TMI 1 Training — Austroads Approved Skill Set in Adelaide

The Traffic Management Implementer 1 (TMI 1) skill set provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to implement traffic management on urban streets and low volume rural roads in Adelaide and across South Australia, in accordance with the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.

Units of Competency:

  • RIIWHS302E – Implement traffic management plans
  • RIIRIS301E – Apply risk management processes
  • RIIWHS303 – Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices
  • RIICOM201E – Communicate in the workplace

TMI 1 Course Curriculum & Delivery

Course Duration

Delivered over 2 days, followed by additional post-course practical requirements.
After completing the face-to-face training, learners must complete practical observations to achieve competency.

Course Content

  • Prepare to implement traffic management plans
  • Set out, monitor, and close down traffic guidance schemes
  • Plan, prepare, identify, and assess risk management requirements
  • Contribute to and review the implementation of risk control measures

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of all course requirements and assessments, learners will receive:

  • Statement of Attainment issued by One Stop Training Solutions
  • Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) ID card issued by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport South Australia
  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Must provide valid photographic identification
  • Must hold the unit:
    • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (or equivalent)
  • Basic English reading, writing, and communication skills required
  • Reaccreditation required every 3 years

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Participants must wear:

  • Enclosed safety footwear
  • Long pants
  • Long-sleeved high-visibility clothing

Additional PPE requirements will be shared during enrolment.
Failure to wear correct PPE may result in inability to complete practical training or assessment.
