Training Product Details — RIISS00059 & RIISS00061 Skill Sets

TC2/TMI2 Training Curriculum & Course Delivery Adelaide

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills at ACSF Level 2 or higher (not required if previously completed with One Stop Training Solutions).
  • Completion of the RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TC1 Skill Set).
  • Completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TMI1 Skill Set).
  • Have at least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management environment in a Traffic Controller role.
  • Have a minimum of one month’s experience applying the skills and knowledge relevant to the TMI1 Skill Set in a temporary traffic management workplace.
  • Provide evidence of experience in setting up at least 12 different types of temporary traffic management scenarios, including those on high-speed or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
    • Pedestrian and cyclist controls
    • Construction sites
    • Lane closures
    • Shoulder closures
    • Night works
    • Use of portable traffic control devices
    • Motorways or freeways
  • Bring your own PPE (including steel-capped boots, broad-brimmed hat, eye protection, gloves, long pants, and a high-visibility shirt, vest, or jacket).

All students are required to complete a minimum of 20 logged hours of vocational placement for Traffic Controller Level 2 (TC2).
This involves performing stop/slow bat operations, implementing lane closures, or using Portable Traffic Control Devices (PTCDs)
on live roads with a licensed traffic control company under supervision.

In addition, students undertaking Traffic Management Implementer Level 2 (TMI2) must complete three (3) different traffic control set-ups
based on Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) relevant to Level 2 traffic management working conditions,
including more complex road environments and live traffic scenarios, after completing the formal course.

All placements must be supervised and are unpaid.

TC2 and TMI2 post-course requirements must be completed within six (6) months of the final day of the formal course.
Post-course TMI2 set-ups may take between 1 and 2 hours each to complete.

NOTE: During work placement, learners are required to provide their own PPE,
including a two-way handheld radio.

NOTE: Once the vocational placement is completed, TC2 and TMI2 assessments must be
conducted by a qualified trainer/assessor to obtain the Statement of Attainment.
Assessment sessions are available monthly and can be booked by contacting the office.
