Upon completion of the training, learners must complete 20 hours of work placement along with additional practical observations.
The combined skill sets equip learners with the knowledge and practical abilities required to manage and control traffic operations.
This includes overseeing traffic controllers and road workers in line with the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management
for Category 2 environments on urban streets and low-volume rural roads.

All students are required to complete a minimum of 20 logged hours of vocational placement for Traffic Controller Level 2 (TC2).
This involves performing stop/slow bat operations, implementing lane closures, or using Portable Traffic Control Devices (PTCDs)
on live roads with a licensed traffic control company under supervision.
In addition, students undertaking Traffic Management Implementer Level 2 (TMI2) must complete three (3) different traffic control set-ups
based on Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) relevant to Level 2 traffic management working conditions,
including more complex road environments and live traffic scenarios, after completing the formal course.
All placements must be supervised and are unpaid.
TC2 and TMI2 post-course requirements must be completed within six (6) months of the final day of the formal course.
Post-course TMI2 set-ups may take between 1 and 2 hours each to complete.
NOTE: During work placement, learners are required to provide their own PPE,
including a two-way handheld radio.
NOTE: Once the vocational placement is completed, TC2 and TMI2 assessments must be
conducted by a qualified trainer/assessor to obtain the Statement of Attainment.
